Frequently Asked Questions

INFOshred is a locally owned, proudly Canadian onsite shredding company serving Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. We securely destroy paper, electronic media, and confidential documents at your location, so your information never leaves your sight.

Our administration office is at 12213 218 St, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 5M4. Because we are a mobile service, we come to you — there is no drop-off depot to visit.

We serve Vancouver and Metro Vancouver — including Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Mission, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, White Rock, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack. We also run route service through the BC Interior and Okanagan, including Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops, Penticton, Summerland, Peachland, and Armstrong. See our locations page for the full list.

We are open seven days a week, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Our core services are paper shredding, secure data destruction (hard drives and electronic media), secure document recycling, and document waste management. We handle one-time purges, recurring scheduled service, mobile and onsite shredding, residential shredding, and commercial office shredding programs. Browse all our services.

Our truck comes to your address and shreds your documents on the spot. Nothing is transported away intact, which is the highest-security option available.

Yes. With our onsite service you can witness the entire process from start to finish.

Yes. On the same visit we can destroy hard drives, USB drives, CDs, DVDs, and other digital media, as well as items like uniforms and ID cards. See what mobile shredding can destroy besides paper.

Yes. We provide secure shredding for home offices and personal files — ideal for identity-theft prevention, estate cleanouts, and household purges. See residential shredding.

Yes. We work with many Vancouver strata councils and property management firms to provide secure shredding for residents and offices. Learn how mobile shredding works for stratas and condos.

Yes. Our trucks fit standard Vancouver condo parkade heights, and our coordinators confirm building access when you book. Where access is restricted, the truck parks at street level and our staff bring collection bins to your unit or lobby.

Yes. We provide one-time purge services for large-scale disposals, from a single box to several hundred pounds in a visit.

Yes. Every service includes a Certificate of Destruction, and secure recycling service also includes a Recycling Report. The certificate records the destruction date, the method used, and the quantity of material processed.

BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) does not specify a required format, but maintaining a documented disposal record is strongly recommended. We issue a certificate at the end of every service.

Documents are cross-cut shredded into tiny particles, handled only by trained professionals under secure conditions, and never leave your property intact.

Risks include identity theft, data breaches, PIPEDA violations, and failed compliance audits if client or employee information reaches unauthorized parties. Businesses face legal liability as well as reputational damage.

Yes. Standard deletion and formatting only remove directory information — the actual data remains on the drive and can be retrieved by professional recovery tools. Physical destruction is the only reliable answer. See hard drive shredding.

Damaged, corrupted, and non-functional drives still hold recoverable data on their platters or memory chips. Criminals specifically target discarded "broken" drives. We destroy them physically.

No. Hard drives retain data that can be recovered even after files are deleted. Use a certified destruction service that physically destroys the drive.

No. Burning is unreliable, unsafe, and often illegal within city limits. Fire rarely consumes documents completely, leaving partial pages and legible fragments. See why shredding is better than burning.

Where Excellent Service Is Not Only A Commitment, But Our Policy.

Every INFOshred visit ends the same way: your documents destroyed on site, in front of you, and a Certificate of Destruction in your hands. Scheduling, Containers & Recycling

In most cases we can schedule service within a few business days, and next-day appointments are often available depending on route scheduling. Same-day emergency service is available for the Vancouver downtown core.

Volume determines the length of the visit — typically 30 to 90 minutes. A residential job of about 10 boxes takes 10 to 15 minutes to shred, with the full appointment finishing in 20 to 30 minutes including loading and the certificate.

No preparation is needed. Our industrial shredders handle staples, paper clips, binder rings, folders, and rubber bands without issue. Bring your documents as they are. See the full answer.

Mobile shredding offers higher security because your documents never leave your property. Drop-off can cost less for very small loads. Choose based on your volume and security requirements.

No. All shredding containers are provided at no charge when you sign up for ongoing scheduled service. There are no rental fees or deposits. See our containers.

Yes. Every INFOshred container uses a HASP or slam-lock system. Documents inserted through the paper slot cannot be retrieved without the key.

Frequency depends on the volume your office generates. Most clients choose monthly or bi-monthly visits, and we will recommend a schedule based on your container count and usage.

Yes. If your volume changes — seasonal activity, added staff, or a records purge — we can swap containers or add units at any time, with no penalty for adjusting.

All shredded paper is baled and sent to certified recycling facilities, in compliance with Metro Vancouver's waste management guidelines, where it is processed into new products.

Standard shredding may still send paper to landfill. Our service guarantees that shredded paper is recycled into new materials, with equal or greater security. See secure document recycling.

Office paper, cardboard, file folders, bound materials, blueprints, and archived records. Non-paper materials are removed during processing.
